Pantry Organization 101: Tips for Better Housekeeping in Frisco, TX

When you clean and organize your home, your pantry is probably one of the areas that tends to be lower on your priority list.   • Fully empty it out before you begin: This is the best way to start with a full pantry organization. Remove every single item from the pantry, and make three separate piles of items: one pile to keep, one pile to throw away and one pile to donate.   • Be ruthless with your decisions: As you separate your items into those three distinct piles, you can be a little ruthless. If something’s been in your pantry for more than a year without being used, you need to either donate it or get rid of it—that’s shown you simply do not have a need for it.

  • Get some good storage containers: One of the most important parts of being organized in your pantry is having designated storage containers for your items. You’ve probably experienced this before—you purchase a box of pasta, and over time it sort of slides to the back of the pantry, out of sight. You end up purchasing another box because you forget about it, and the process continues to repeat itself. However, if you have two or three designated containers for pasta, you’ll much more easily be able to glance into your pantry and see what you have on hand.
  • Give kids an area of their own: Kids are constantly rummaging through pantries to find something to snack on, so to prevent them from messing up your organization, you can designate a specific shelf or area of the pantry where their snacks will be located, and where they’re allowed to go and remove items from. This keeps them happy while also keeping your pantry nice and organized.
